Palm Perfect

Palm trees. Who doesn't like palm trees? They're essentially the universal sign of vacation. You know, a warm beach, white sand, a fruity cocktail with one of those little umbrellas in it. Happiness. Palm trees are happiness. And just like the vacation they represent - palms are hot in the wedding world right now. Tropical and trendy babes!

Katie and David went to college together (Go Dukes!) and it was only fitting that they brought the heat. After meeting them at the wedding expo, we secured a partial planning package with them. For their wedding they went big - they chose the expansive South lawn of The Whalehead Club for their party, perfect for their large guest count, big bridal party, huge tent, and giant band! In this case, bigger was definitely better!

The ladies got ready at the quaint and cozy, Lovies Salon & Spa. One of our absolute favorite places to get pampered! With it's close proximity to the club, it was the perfect space for getting ready. Katie took everyone's breath away in a strapless fitted gown (with a long va va voom lace train), loose updo, and keeping it true to the tropics, a large white flower in her hair. The maids complimented her with mix matching white mid length dresses. The guys wore navy blue suits with green bow ties. Everything tied in perfectly.

After everyone was dressed and ready, a white trolley transported the girls over to the club, where they would meet the guys. After reading love notes alone, the couple met for their first look. After seeing each other for the first time, bridal party photos followed and then it was time to marry! Everyone headed over to enjoy a short ceremony on the waterfront, where the two spread their love between tall pampas grass arrangements. Then it was guests favorite hour...cocktail hour! After drinks and appetizers, guests could enter the tent to a Carribbean inspired oasis. White folding chairs and floor length linens kept things bright, while tables were topped with a mix match of DIY hurricane vases and candles, palm runners and clear plates with different style greens underneath. The perfect pops of gold were added in with gold silverware, gold table numbers and gold mercury glass votives. We worked collectively with the florist to get everything set up to a tee. Y'all, we've got be to honest. This was one of our favorite set ups. It was crisp, clean, with the perfect amount of color and fun. It had a very modern, classy vibe, without being too fancy. The full bar, display of donuts and multi piece band let you know that you were in for a good time.

The week leading up to the wedding weather was a large concern. Things weren't looking good, which is always a total bummer. But, true to island weather, the sun started shining, and the day was even complete with a signature OBX sunset. Katie and David, your love spoke very clearly to us. You encompassed a comfort and easiness with one another that immediately makes anyone know you've been best friends for a long time. The possibility of marrying your best friend is one of life's greatest blessings. Thank you for taking us to the tropics right here in Corolla! We wish you all the best and hope you continue to laugh through life together!
